Transforming Citizenship Education for the 21st Century

Reading Getting Beyond the Facts, Teaching Social Studies/Social Sciences in the Twenty-first Century by Joe Kincheloe.
It's time to take social studies out of the Newtonian physics world and into the world of quantum physics.  Look how our democracy has evolved through the past generation.  The Supreme Court says corporations are equivalent to people when it comes to political action.
Social studies teachers have become more important than ever.  What kind of government, nation, and world do we aspire to?  Now is a critical moment in education.  What do we want our legacy to be?  It's time to decide.  We must move past the blips of tea parties and other one action type groups.
John Lennon's Imagine is playing in the background as I compose this.  What an appropriate backdrop!  Our world is changing, that's normal.  Time to choose the type of change we want.
